My wife and I (and our toddler) want to spend a week in Northern Europe, but we're not sure yet if we should go to The Netherlands, Denmark, or Sweden. It's down to those, but we're not sure yet.

We're looking for a family-friendly and bicycle friendly city we can check out for a week.

Completed!

We decided on Copenhagen, Denmark. We brought our niece along to help us keep Finn under control.

Unfortunately, Finn never adjusted to the time change. So we slept very little, and I was miserable a lot of the time. I need sleep....

As a dane, who grew up in Copenhagen, its an eyeopening experience to find this on someones list.
It just proves how wonderful relative and personal it all is.

I like the Netherlands. While you're considering Northern Europe, I'd highly recommend Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Bloc. I've always found it more interesting than the more modern cities. Prague, Budapest, Bucharest, Kiev, Odessa...all just awesome. A bit more challenging, but awesome.

I would recommend going to Denmark. Aarhus and Copenhagen are both very bike-friendly cities. And both can be done in a week - takes no time.
