I may not have had dreams of white picket fences, becoming president and being a wonderful life, but since I can remember, I ALWAYS wanted to be "a writer."
As good as a child can be at anything, I was good at writing and I enjoyed it. I was involved in the Young Authors program as a fifth grader. Through elementary, middle and high school I told myself that someday, I would write a book. After I got my degree from UWSP, I went back to school for Journalism.
What often boggles my mind is that I had to "go back to school." Knowing in my mind and soul that I wanted to write would send most people into that profession from the get-go. But not me.
Anyway, I haven't written a book yet, but I am officially a "freelance writer" and I LOVE it. I am currently writing 2 articles a week for the De Pere Journal.
I think maybe I didn't seek this profession years ago because I enjoy it too much. I don't want it to become a job that I dread going to. Now, in my spare time I write articles, write my own personal stories, and still dream of writing that book.
