Through conversations within the past 5-10 years, the topic of Big Brothers Big Sisters has frequently come up.
Lucky for me, I got a front row seat in the action, when a budding relationship grew between myself and Lisa. As the director of BBBS, we often talked about her experiences and they were all so inspiring.
I have family with kids and a 9 year old niece that I ADORE! However, living 45 minutes from me, I don't have the weekly opportunities to visit her and spend quality time. I thought getting a little sister would be the answer to filling some more of my time.
This "time filler" has grown into so much more. For 2-4 hours a week, I get to spend time with a little girl who wants nothing more than a "best friend". From Packer games, to movies, sleepovers and dinners out, there is never a dull moment.
As we grow older, I time becomes less and also becomes more precious. I am busy working, writing and living my life, but there will never be a week that passes that I am not sitting in her driveway waiting to travel on to our next adventure.
