I want to be one of those teens who, in the future, will be like, "Yea... I saw Slash in concert." And I want to have a pick he dropped to prove it. I saw Paul McCartney live in concert, but I was very young and can hardly remember it. I've also seen the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, but... I'm talking about a rock band.

It's not at all at the end of my "concert journey", and it was completely last-minute, but I got to see The Tedeschi Trucks Band perform at the Florida Theater in Jacksonville, Florida. Derek Trucks is an amazing blues guitarist, and the nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band. Susan Tedeschi is Derek's wife and music companion. She has a very powerful voice, combining the genres blues and soul to create a surreal sound. The other members were equally amazing, including a fantastic bassist, two drummers, and a brass section and vocal group. Plus, at the end of the show, I got to meet and chat with Derek himself.

It's a little ironic in a way... My mom and dad were on a summer vacation one year before I was born, and they walked into a bar. In strolls young Derek Trucks wearing shorts with a skateboard tucked beneath his arm. And he just... took the stage, and began to play guitar... And proceeded to blow everyone away.

I also got the chance to see Boston later in the year with two of my good friends. They didn't play my favorite Boston song, "I Had a Good Time", but they did rock Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia! The Tedeschi Trucks concert may have been ironic, but this one was a coincidence. The very first "real" concert my mom saw with her friends was a Boston show. So it's kinda like passing down a family tradition. One thing's for sure... rock 'n' roll will never die.
